They’re back!!!

Maybe “they’re out” would be the more accurate title….

We had our first nice stretch of good days this weekend, and Hives 1, 3, and 5 were out in full force today. I even saw them gathering water and a touch of pollen, which always makes me wonder where on earth they find it this time of year. Nothing is in bloom just yet, though spring is truly just around the corner.

I’m happy to note that all three survivor hives are quite heavy still and had large numbers of bees. All good signs for the nucs I’m hoping to get out of them here in the next few weeks.

In England bees are finding snowdrops, crocuses and hazel – not sure if you’d have those over where you are though! Glad to hear the ladies are doing well.

None of those just yet. Pretty soon though. Our first big bloom is the cherries in about three or four weeks and the early spring flowers like tulips, daffodils, and crocuses.

I’ve been looking at planting a few even earlier blooms just to have something out.

We have snowdrops that come out earlier than those other three. I haven’t been in the back yard to see if they’re out yet, but they usually are at this time of year.
