And the MRI…

Myron had his MRI early this morning. I had originally planned on just dropping Courtney off with the kids thinking that it’d be fairly routine. Uh… no. It was far from routine.

They ended up not being able to do an IV to knock him out, so they had to do an oral sedative. The good news is that preliminary results show good news and this his eye problem is not neurologically based. The bad news, though, is that Myron is still, how do we say this… stoned. He stayed a sleep far longer than expected, and is still so groggy. By the time we left, over 6 hours after arriving, we were all so tired, hungry, and just beat that we spent the rest of the day sleeping. Add to it that I’m sick with a cold, and let’s just say that I’m NOT looking forward to doing anything like this again.

But, like I said, we’re glad to know that he’s fine on at least that level. I have great hopes that he’ll be fully healed eventually.

Wow… what a huge relief to rule that out.

But having to deal with that was probably really stressful. No wonder you guys were so tired. Hope you recover fast, and can move on from all of this as fast as possible, too, with good results for Myron.

Trying to get him sedated was honestly a nightmare. Every single time they would get the IV in, he’d start screaming and his blood vessels would go into a hyper constriction, and would then rupture right where the needle was. 4 times this happened, even after giving him the first round of an oral sedative.

They ended up using an even stronger oral sedative and it was supposed to take 5-7 minutes to knock him out. Needless to say, he fought it. It took him nearly 15 to go under.

His balance is off kilter and for the longest time he couldn’t sit up straight unless someone was supporting him. He weaves when he walks and if he starts to fall over, there is no chance of stopping it. I try not to giggle too loudly when I watch him. 🙂

  3. I hope you recorded a little movie of this. We can watch it during our “funny internet clips” hour when you visit next time.
