That’s about all I can say. Wow.
The response to yesterday’s post on postpartum depression has been overwhelmingly positive with dozens of links, hundreds of hits, and many heartfelt thanks. I’m somewhat surprised by the energy of the responses, particularly the gratitude expressed for the honesty of the writer of that story. And it’s obvious to me that this is doing some good no matter how small.
I was thinking over the various posts I had done on mental illness, and I remembered hearing from several people that they felt like there was nowhere to tell their story or share their experience. Many people felt like they would be shunned if they confessed (what a dispicable term in relation to mental illness) that they had mental illness. But the stories need to be told.
Here’s the deal: If you want to write your story, I will post every story confidentially, privately, and anonymously to this blog.
To submit a story, simply write it up and add it as a comment to this post or any other post for that matter. I’ll take the comment and post it as a separate blog post.
Your experiences have value, especially to other sufferers. If you can and will, we’d love to hear about them.
