Winder Dairy and the Impulse Buyer

When we were first married, we found that we had a problem. A serious problem. My wife and I are impulse buyers. In fact, for the first year of our marriage, we tried a thousand ways to control our impulse buying. One way that was more than a little discouraging but extremely helpful was to take our grocery receipt and add up all the things we bought on impulse. We found that upwards of 40% of our total bill went to impulse purchases, most of them frivolous.

We finally realized that the only way to stop the madness was to reduce our shopping trips. We tried going to once a week, then every other week, and finally only once a month. None of those worked because we’d consistently run out of the basics. In steps Winder Dairy.

Winder Dairy is a full-service dairy that delivers right to your door. We first used them over three years ago and fell instantly in love. Winder Dairy prides themselves on providing 100% organic products, and the quality shows. And while the overall cost of the product is more expensive, we actually found ourselves saving money. Why? No more impulse buys.

Because Winder Dairy is a full-service dairy, we could order milk and other dairy products, eggs, butter, cheese, bread, meat, produce, pies, pasta, and a hundred other products. We could even set up a standing order so that we wouldn’t even have to poke our heads into a virtual store. And it worked. It worked fabulously. Our impulse buys dropped to almost nothing. Unfortunately, several changes (job change, new home) forced us to drop Winder Dairy after only nine months of service.

Now, more than two years later, we find ourselves in a position to try again. The program has changed somewhat because of higher gas prices and massive growth on the part of Winder Dairy, but the core of the company is the same and the milk is as good as ever. Our first delivery of 3 half gallon jugs of milk, a dozen eggs, and a loaf of Grandma Winder’s bread is this Monday. We can’t wait.

Oh, and if you call at the right time, you might get Grandpa Winder on the phone. I don’t know if he really is the Grandpa Winder, but his back-country accent is thick, you can hear his smile through the phone, and he’s great for a laugh. If you try them out, tell them I sent you. You’ll get a $30 credit on your order!

We tried to save money by using a dairy service and they refused to deliver to our apartments. I was so mad! 😡 I explained that our complex is easy to drive around and there are hardly any stairs, but he said he doesn’t deliver to any apartments period.

Don’t forget to save money when you sign up. There are coupons at UtahMilkman.com. Give Dave his referral and he gets $30.00, use the coupon and you get even more. It works for everyone.
