Archive for February, 2009

Late February and early March are always some of my favorite times of the year. This is that time when you find yourself looking out the window and just sighing… you know it’s coming.
I don’t know what it is about Spring, but I get almost giddy when I see the buds on the trees and [...]

And the Republican Rebuttal….

Laura G reminded me that I needed to do the Republican Rebuttal offered by Gov. Jindal to Obama’s speech, so here we go. Same format as I did for Obama….
Where we agree, Republicans must be the president’s strongest partners. And where we disagree, Republicans have a responsibility to be candid and offer better ideas for [...]

Here are my thoughts on the things that stick out to me as I read it. Sorry for the very random mess….
There is something I absolutely admire in Obama–his unfailing belief that we will succeed and come out of this recession stronger. I find a healthy disagreement as to what we’ll come out looking like, [...]

I’m waiting….

Tonight is Obama’s first State of the Union address, and I’m anxious to see what he has to say. Unfortunately, church obligations mean I’m going to miss it, but I will definitely read it tonight or tomorrow morning. Part of me is worried, preparing for the next “How are you going to hurt me now?” [...]

Grandma Linda–Another Aleisha site. She is a talented [...]

Save $1000 cash in [...]

Obama: The frustration grows

I’m reminded of a sobering lesson I learned many years ago. I was taking a basic rescue and first-aid course, and one of the lessons was on water rescue. The instructor spoke about experiences he had where he couldn’t save people because any attempt to save them would have killed him. He talked about victims [...]

Please… no more help.

I read this morning the details of Obama’s plan to help homeowners, and I was deeply bothered by some of his ideas. To follow his ideas point by point (my thoughts in italics):

Help home owners who owe more than 80% of their home’s value to refinance and reduce their mortgage payments.
I’m of two minds [...]

SI Swimsuit Issue

Last year I started a category called Offended Silence based on a blog written by my sister-in-law. I vowed then that I would no longer be silently offended by the smut I and my family are regularly exposed to in advertising. I haven’t done much with it, but my annual battle against something I absolutely [...]

I noticed in the March Ensign that the church has launched the new disabilities resources area on LDS.org. One of the disabilities listed was Mental Illness, and there is a wealthy of information there, both from the church and from outside resources.
If you’d like to check it out, click here.
It’s an excellent site.
